Water migrates quickly and, if undetected, can cause future problems. All wet materials are identified using Infrared Technology, Electronic Moisture Detection Instruments, and Thermo-hygrometers. We have the newest technology in air movers, dehumidifiers, top dry heat systems, injector dry systems and more. We can assist with safety inspections and moisture mapping, all types of water extraction, including portable and truck mount units, carpet drying solutions, structural drying and dehumidification to walls, subfloors, timber floors, ceilings and all types of Cat 3 events, including sewerage contamination and mould remediation. Hospital-grade Hepa Air-Purification systems are essential to eliminate foul odours and prevent cross-contamination.

Helpful Tips

At Flood Assist, we know that all floods, small or big, can be overwhelming and its helpful to get some simple advise from the experts that have been doing this for over two decades. Here are some basic tips to get you started before our team arrives.

  • If necessary call 000. If your life is in danger and there are pressing issues like water is raising fast and reaching height of power points or water is interfering with electrical wires causing smoke, evacuate the building.
  • Call the experts. We will dispatch a team immediately, and in most cases we will be on site within 60 minutes to ensure we stabilize the situation and prevent further damage.
  • Stabilize the situation by stopping the water flow. If burst pipe, turn off main water to the house located near the services area or at the front of the property. If necessary call a plumber to guide you through this process.
  • Open doors and windows and fans to create air-flow This will help release moisture in the air to start natural drying process and make it safe to occupy the space until we arrive.
  • Always wear appropriate footwear and walk slowly This will avoid accidents and water contamination to feet and hands.
  • Turn Off power If water is running through downlights or power is short circuiting and causing interference to lights or electrical appliances act quickly. Power can be turned off at the fuse box normally located outside the front door or the front side of the house.
  • Rescue your most valuable possessions. Timber furniture can stain carpets so small items can be relocated to the garage or tiled areas. Do not place wet contents items on dry carpet. Plastic bags can be placed under feet of timber furniture to prevent staining. Avoid lifting heavy furniture since our team is trained to assist with this type of work.
  • If water is from a contaminated source. Sewerage overflow, water flowing up through a waste in bathrooms or outside water that has entered through external wall or door, is considered category 3 ( black water), so it is critical to take extra care to prevent cross contamination. Evacuate affected areas immediately until such time as our team arrives to access, sanitise and give you further advice.
